The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of the Republic of Azerbaijan has ratified an additional agreement regarding the organizational and financial arrangements for the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), which is scheduled to be held in Baku in 2026.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the bill "On the approval of the additional Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United Nations regarding organizational measures and financial issues for the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum to be held in Baku in 2026" was discussed and approved during a plenary session of the parliament. The document, which was signed in Geneva on January 15, 2026, designates the Baku Olympic Stadium as the official venue for the event, with the forum set to take place from May 17 to 22, 2026.

The ratified agreement provides a comprehensive legal framework for the global event, covering security requirements, financial regulations, and obligations toward the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). It also addresses logistical matters such as accommodation, telecommunications, exhibition space, and the recruitment of local staff. The World Urban Forum, established by the United Nations, is the world's premier conference on sustainable urbanization. Hosting WUF13 in Baku highlights Azerbaijan's increasing prominence as a venue for major international summits and its commitment to addressing global urban development challenges.
