11 issues included in agenda of Milli Majlis meeting

The timing and agenda for the next session of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of the Republic of Azerbaijan have been announced.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, 11 issues have been included in the agenda for the parliamentary session scheduled for April 27.

The items on the agenda are as follows:

  • 1. Appointment of members and substitute members of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
  • 2. Draft law on the approval of the "Additional Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United Nations regarding organizational measures and financial matters for the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum to be held in Baku in 2026."
  • 3. Draft law on the approval of the "Host Country Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Clean Energy Center of the Economic Cooperation Organization."
  • 4. Draft law on the approval of the "Agreement on cooperation in the field of defense between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia."
  • 5. Draft law on amendments to the Labor Code and the Law "On Narcological Service and Control" (third reading).
  • 6. Draft law on amendments to the Criminal Code and the Law "On Combating Terrorism" (third reading).
  • 7. Draft law on amendments to the Tax Code, and the laws "On Education" and "On Demining Activity" (third reading).
  • 8. Draft law on amendments to the Labor Code and the Law "On Guarantees of Gender (Men and Women) Equality" (second reading).
  • 9. Draft law on amendments to the Law "On Road Traffic" (second reading).
  • 10. Draft law "On Financial Leasing" (first reading).
  • 11. Draft law on amendments to the Civil Code, Tax Code, Code of Competition, and various laws including "On Insolvency and Bankruptcy," "On Grain," "On Private International Law," "On Tobacco and Tobacco Products," "On State Fees," "On State Registration and State Register of Legal Entities," "On Banks," "On State Register of Real Estate," "On Tea Growing," "On Family Peasant Farms," "On Horse Breeding," "On Non-Bank Credit Organizations," "On Cotton Growing," "On Compulsory Insurance," "On Licenses and Permits," "On Agricultural Cooperation," "On Science," "On Credit Bureaus," "On Cashless Settlements," "On Encumbrance of Movable Property," "On Development of Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneurship," and "On Combating the Legalization of Property Obtained through Crime and the Financing of Terrorism" (first reading).

The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) is the unicameral legislative branch of the government in Azerbaijan. It plays a vital role in the country's legal framework by ratifying international treaties and adopting laws that align with national development goals. The upcoming session's focus on urban planning and clean energy reflects Azerbaijan's growing role in hosting major international events and its commitment to global environmental and developmental initiatives.
