The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) has established new inter-parliamentary working groups and approved their leadership to enhance international cooperation. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the relevant draft resolution was discussed and adopted during today's plenary session of the parliament in Baku.
Under the approved decision, official working groups have been created for cooperation with the parliaments of Kenya, Gambia, Laos, and the Maldives. The document confirms that Ramid Namazov will head the Azerbaijan-Kenya group, while Eyvaz Gurbanov has been appointed chairman of the Azerbaijan-Gambia group. Furthermore, Gulshan Pashayeva was confirmed as the head of the Azerbaijan-Laos inter-parliamentary working group, and Azer Allahveranov will lead the Azerbaijan-Maldives group.
The resolution also included the appointment of Vasif Gafarov as the head of the Azerbaijan-Nepal inter-parliamentary working group. This position had remained vacant since October 15, 2025, following the termination of the parliamentary mandate of the previous head, Ramil Hasan. After deliberations, the draft resolution was put to a vote and passed in a single reading.
The establishment of these groups is part of Azerbaijan's broader foreign policy strategy to diversify its international relations and strengthen legislative ties with nations across Africa and Asia. The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) regularly initiates such working groups to facilitate the exchange of experience in lawmaking, promote bilateral economic interests, and support Azerbaijan's positions within international parliamentary organizations.
