The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of the Republic of Azerbaijan has officially commenced the first meeting of its extraordinary session.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the agenda for today's plenary session includes the deliberation and voting on eight separate draft laws.
The session is being presided over by the Speaker of the Parliament, Sahiba Gafarova. The extraordinary session was convened following a formal decree signed by Speaker Gafarova, which took effect on June 1. This legislative gathering was initiated at the request of 82 deputies, in accordance with Part II of Article 88 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Extraordinary sessions of the Milli Majlis serve as a critical mechanism for the legislative branch to address urgent national matters, economic reforms, or necessary legal adjustments outside of the standard spring and autumn parliamentary terms. These sessions ensure that the legislative process remains responsive to the evolving needs of the state and its citizens, allowing for timely governance and oversight.
