The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of the Republic of Azerbaijan has approved, in the first reading, legislative amendments aimed at establishing a legal framework for dress code requirements in public general education institutions.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the draft amendment to the Law on General Education was presented for discussion during today's extraordinary session of the parliament.

Officials noted that the primary objective of this legislative change is to clarify the legal basis for existing regulations and ensure their uniform application across all state-run general education institutions. The document also introduces legal provisions regarding dress codes for teaching staff, aiming to strengthen professional environments and organizational culture within state educational facilities. Following the parliamentary debate, the draft law was put to a vote and successfully passed its first reading.

This legislative initiative is part of broader efforts in Azerbaijan to modernize the education sector and standardize administrative practices. By formalizing dress code requirements, the Ministry of Science and Education seeks to foster a more disciplined and professional atmosphere in schools, which is considered a critical component of the national educational strategy to enhance the quality of instruction and student conduct.
