First Vice President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva has shared a post on her official social media accounts regarding the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the post emphasizes the gravity of the tragedy and honors the memory of the victims.
"The Khojaly genocide is a crime committed against all of humanity and will never be erased from memory. May Allah rest the souls of all our martyrs," the First Vice President stated in her message.
The Khojaly genocide, which took place on February 26, 1992, stands as one of the bloodiest pages in the history of Azerbaijan. During the massacre, Armenian armed forces, with the support of the 366th motorized infantry regiment of the former USSR, attacked the town of Khojaly, resulting in the killing of 613 civilians, including 106 women, 63 children, and 70 elderly people. International organizations and numerous parliaments worldwide have since recognized this event as an act of genocide and a crime against humanity.
