President of Mauritius Prithvirajsing Roopun has visited Icherisheher, the historical and architectural heart of the capital, during his stay in Azerbaijan.
The Operative Information Center-OMM was informed by the "Icherisheher" State Historical-Architectural Reserve Administration that the Mauritian delegation toured the Maiden Tower, the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, the Bukhara Caravanserai, and other significant architectural monuments. The guests were briefed on the site's status as a UNESCO World Heritage site, as well as the ongoing conservation projects and cooperation with the local community and artisans to preserve the area's cultural legacy.
President Prithvirajsing Roopun is in Baku to participate in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13). Icherisheher, often referred to as the Old City, serves as a testament to Azerbaijan's rich history and architectural evolution. The site frequently hosts international dignitaries, showcasing the nation's commitment to cultural diplomacy and the preservation of its ancient heritage within a modernizing urban landscape.
