NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte outlined the alliance's upcoming priorities ahead of the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government held in Ankara.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the NATO Secretary General shared these remarks during a press briefing.
In his address, Rutte emphasized that the alliance is currently undergoing a significant transformation. He expressed hope that member states would adopt a more decisive stance regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Addressing regional security concerns, the NATO Secretary General stated that Iran possessing nuclear capabilities is unacceptable. He stressed that maintaining the full accessibility of the Strait of Hormuz is critical for global energy security.
Furthermore, Rutte alleged that Iran has violated ceasefire regimes and described the recent actions taken by US President Donald Trump in this regard as an expected response.
The 36th NATO Summit in Ankara serves as a critical platform for member states to align their defense strategies amidst evolving geopolitical threats.
