French President Emmanuel Macron failed to secure a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump during the World Economic Forum

French President Emmanuel Macron has departed from the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos without holding a private meeting with US President Donald Trump. Despite diplomatic efforts to coordinate a sit-down between the two leaders, the high-profile encounter did not materialize before the French leader's departure from Switzerland.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Politico, that although Macron had extended an invitation to US President Donald Trump to visit Paris over the upcoming weekend—an invitation the US leader subsequently shared on social media—the two were unable to align their schedules within the forum's framework. Reports indicate that Macron has already left the summit venue. Meanwhile, other European figures, including Germany's Friedrich Merz, are reportedly still seeking opportunities to hold discussions with US President Donald Trump on January 21.

The scheduling difficulties were compounded by a delay in the US leader's arrival in Switzerland. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that US President Donald Trump's trip to Davos was delayed due to technical issues. The presidential aircraft was forced to return shortly after takeoff following a malfunction in the electrical system, after which the US leader continued his journey on a backup aircraft. The World Economic Forum, held annually in Davos, serves as a primary global platform for political and business leaders to discuss international security, economic cooperation, and global governance.
