Lukashenko's former teacher dies at 103 in Mogilev

Tatyana Nikolayevna Karpechenko, the former class teacher of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, has passed away at the age of 103 in the city of Mogilev.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that according to official information, Karpechenko passed away at 6:00 AM on February 9. She was a prominent educator who remained a respected figure in the regional academic community throughout her long life.

Karpechenko taught mathematics at the Alexandria School where Lukashenko received his primary education, serving as his class teacher from the 5th to the 8th grade. Following his graduation, the future president maintained a professional relationship with his former mentor, particularly during the period when Lukashenko himself worked as a teacher. It is reported that the head of state kept in regular contact with Karpechenko, notably gifting her a white wool shawl for her 100th anniversary and consistently sending official congratulations on her birthdays.

The Alexandria School, located in the Shklow District of the Mogilev Region, holds significant place in Belarusian contemporary history as the educational foundation for the country's leadership. In Azerbaijan, such long-standing relationships between educators and statesmen are highly regarded, reflecting traditional values of respect for the teaching profession. This event marks the passing of one of the last remaining links to the early formative years of the Belarusian presidency.
