Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati has called for the development of a concrete schedule for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the country's southern territories. Mikati emphasized that establishing a clear timeline is essential for restoring stability in the region.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Mikati stated on Friday that this step is crucial for de-escalating the ongoing tensions. Amid the persistent political and military instability, official Beirut has also proposed expanding the scope of pilot zones in the south of the country.

The primary objective of this initiative is to strengthen control over the security situation in the region and ensure the safety of the civilian population. The Lebanese leadership has long urged the international community and mediators to take an active stance in ending Israel's military presence in border areas.

The conflict in southern Lebanon has been a focal point of regional instability for decades, often involving exchanges of fire across the 'Blue Line'—the demarcation line established by the United Nations in 2000. Diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire and long-term security arrangements remain a priority for the Lebanese government as it seeks to assert sovereignty over its southern territories.
