Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan, has sent an official letter to President Ilham Aliyev regarding the drone attack on Nakhchivan from Iranian territory.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the letter strongly condemned the violation of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. "We followed with concern the reports regarding the targeting of Azerbaijan's territory by unmanned aerial vehicles from the territory of Iran and the resulting violation of your airspace. This is a clear violation of the principles of international law and the rules of respect for the sovereignty of states," the letter stated.
The Sudanese leader further expressed the full solidarity of the leadership, government, and people of the Republic of Sudan with the brotherly Republic of Azerbaijan. He emphasized Sudan's support for all legal steps taken by Baku to protect the country's sovereignty, security, and stability, concluding with wishes for continued peace and prosperity for the Azerbaijani people.
The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, an exclave of Azerbaijan, holds significant strategic importance in the region. Maintaining security along its borders is a priority for the Republic of Azerbaijan, which has consistently advocated for the respect of international borders and non-interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states. This diplomatic support from Sudan underscores the growing international recognition of Azerbaijan's right to defend its sovereign airspace and territory against external threats.
