Russia has announced that it will deliver a harsh response to strikes launched by Ukraine against the country's trade and economic infrastructure.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov made these remarks in an interview with Bloomberg. Peskov stated that Kyiv's actions, aimed at damaging the Russian economy, are provoking a retaliatory reaction from Moscow.
"Ukraine is attempting to strike our economic and trade infrastructure, which triggers a response from us, and that response will be harsh," Peskov emphasized. The Kremlin representative further noted that these attacks by Ukraine will not alter Russia's strategic position.
Previously, Peskov has stated that strikes on civilian and infrastructure facilities lack the capability to alter the situation on the battlefield or impede the advancement of Russian forces. Russian President Vladimir Putin has also addressed the issue, asserting that Kyiv is attempting to disrupt the operations of the Russian military through these attacks. Putin reaffirmed Russia's determination to achieve its stated objectives and warned that more powerful retaliatory strikes would be directed at targets within Ukrainian territory.
The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has significantly impacted regional stability, with infrastructure attacks becoming a recurring element of the hostilities. Both sides continue to exchange warnings regarding the escalation of military operations as the conflict persists.
