The current situation surrounding Iran is characterized by an unprecedented surge in tensions, the Kremlin has warned.

The Operative Information Center-OMM, citing RIA Novosti, reports that Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the Russian President, shared these concerns regarding the deteriorating regional stability.

The Kremlin official emphasized that the situation in the region has reached a critical juncture:

"Currently, we are witnessing a truly unprecedented escalation in the region," Peskov stated.

Peskov noted that Moscow remains hopeful that political and diplomatic means will be prioritized under the current circumstances. He further called on all involved parties to exercise maximum restraint to prevent further destabilization.

The statement comes amid reports that US President Donald Trump and his administration are considering potential strikes against Iran over the coming weekend. Currently, the White House is reportedly evaluating the risks associated with a broader expansion of the conflict in the Middle East.

The geopolitical landscape in the Middle East has remained volatile, with international observers closely monitoring the interactions between Washington and Tehran. Russia, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, has frequently positioned itself as a mediator in regional disputes, advocating for the preservation of international agreements and the prevention of direct military confrontation in proximity to its southern borders.
