The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has officially held the United States responsible for the recent explosions involving two oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the IRGC issued a statement alleging that the tankers were forced to utilize routes deemed dangerous due to pressure exerted by the US military. The organization explicitly stated that it holds Washington directly accountable for the incident.
The statement further emphasized that as long as US activities in the region persist, the Strait of Hormuz will remain unsafe for the transportation of oil, gas, and other strategic cargo. The IRGC also noted that the strait has been closed to all shipping since the beginning of the month, warning that the waterway will remain inaccessible unless US interference ceases. The US side has not yet issued an official response regarding the incident.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical maritime chokepoints, serving as the primary transit route for a significant portion of global oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports. Located between Oman and Iran, it connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. Due to its strategic importance, any disruption or security threat in the strait often leads to immediate volatility in global energy markets and heightened geopolitical tensions between regional powers and international actors.
