The Coordination Council on Combating Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing, and the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction has held its latest meeting to address critical national security and financial compliance objectives.

Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Coordination Council, Samir Sharifov, emphasized the strategic importance of preparations for the 32nd Plenary Meeting of the Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units, which is scheduled to take place in Baku from July 5 to 10, 2026. It was noted that the implementation of the approved work plan for organizing this high-level event remains a priority for the Council and relevant state bodies.
During the session, members of the Coordination Council reviewed reports from relevant state agencies regarding progress on issues arising from the 2023 and 2024 self-assessment reports on effectiveness conducted by the Financial Monitoring Service. Furthermore, the Council officially approved the report on the "National Risk Assessment on Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing in the Republic of Azerbaijan" and addressed other operational matters.
The Egmont Group is an international network of 177 Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) that provides a platform for the secure exchange of expertise and financial intelligence to combat money laundering and terrorist financing. Azerbaijan's hosting of this plenary session underscores the country's commitment to international financial transparency standards and its active role in global efforts to secure financial systems against illicit activities.
