The first leg of the UEFA Conference League third qualifying round between Ukraine's Dynamo Kyiv and Azerbaijan's Qarabag has concluded in Lublin, Poland.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the match held at the Lublin Arena ended in a 1-0 victory for the Kyiv-based side.

The decisive goal was scored by Matvey Ponomarenko in the 10th minute of the match. The Aghdam club faced further challenges late in the game when Cebrail Makreckis was shown a red card in the 88th minute, leaving the team a player down for the final moments.

The UEFA Conference League, introduced in 2021, serves as the third tier of European club football, designed to give more clubs from smaller nations the opportunity to compete in continental group stages. Qarabag, a perennial representative of Azerbaijan in European competitions, will look to overturn this deficit in the return leg.

The return match between the two teams is scheduled to take place on August 13 in Baku.
