Venezuela's acting head of state, Delcy Rodriguez, has stated that while holding elections in the country is inevitable, the process will only proceed once the nation is fully prepared.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Rodriguez made these remarks during a press conference held at the Miraflores Palace. Since assuming her duties on January 5, she emphasized that she has been working intensively toward the country's future.
Rodriguez noted that she is working continuously to ensure Venezuela is fully prepared to head to the polls when the time is right. The acting head of state highlighted that her administration is engaged in intensive diplomatic negotiations aimed at establishing democratic stability and lifting the sanctions currently imposed on Venezuela.
Addressing questions regarding a specific date for the elections, Rodriguez clarified that the decision does not depend on her personal will alone. She underscored that the country operates under its existing Constitution and the democratic order it guarantees. While she reaffirmed that elections will take place, she did not disclose a specific date.
