China hopes that the upcoming visit of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will open a new page in the development of bilateral relations between the two nations.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that these remarks were made by Guo Jiakun, the official spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"China is ready to use this visit as an opportunity to strengthen political mutual trust with the British side, deepen practical cooperation, and open a new chapter in the healthy and stable development of China-UK relations," the spokesperson noted. Jiakun emphasized that as permanent members of the UN Security Council, Beijing and London must maintain communication in line with global interests. The visit is scheduled to take place from January 28 to 31.

This high-level diplomatic engagement comes at a pivotal time for international relations, as both major economies seek to navigate complex global trade dynamics and security challenges. Historically, China-UK relations have fluctuated between periods of robust economic partnership and diplomatic tension. Prime Minister Starmer's visit represents a significant effort to stabilize the strategic dialogue between the West and the East, focusing on areas of mutual economic benefit and climate cooperation while addressing long-standing geopolitical differences.
