Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a significant telephone conversation focusing on the temporary ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye released official information regarding the discussion.

According to the statement, the ministers centered their talks on the 15-day temporary ceasefire announced between the US and Iran, as well as the upcoming negotiation process scheduled to commence in Islamabad. The diplomatic efforts aim to de-escalate long-standing tensions in the region through mediated dialogue.

It should be recalled that Iran, the US, and their allies reached an agreement for a two-week ceasefire effective from the night of April 8, 2026. Iran, for its part, declared that during this period, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz would be ensured in coordination with armed forces and taking into account technical limitations.

Despite these developments, Israel launched strikes on Lebanon on April 8, justifying the move by stating that the current ceasefire agreement does not apply to Lebanese territory. Immediately following the incident, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf reacted strongly, asserting that ensuring a ceasefire in Lebanon was the first and most vital condition of the peace plan.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most strategic maritime chokepoints, through which approximately one-fifth of the world's oil consumption passes. Diplomatic engagement between regional powers like Türkiye and Pakistan is considered crucial for maintaining stability in the Middle East and ensuring the security of global energy supply routes during periods of heightened geopolitical friction.
