Hakan Fidan: İranla münaqişənin yenidən başlaması dünya iqtisadiyyatına zərbə vuracaq

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has warned that the alternative to a ceasefire between Iran and the United States is the resumption of war, which could inflict severe damage on the global economy and energy security.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Turkish Foreign Minister made these remarks during an interview with the Al Jazeera television channel.

“The alternative to a ceasefire is the resumption of war. No one wants to see such a scenario repeated, because the global economy and energy security suffer from this conflict,” Fidan stated. According to the Turkish Foreign Minister, the primary priority in ongoing discussions involving the United States and Iran is the preservation of the ceasefire. He noted that while negotiations continue with varying results, the process will not stop.

Fidan added that Turkey maintains continuous contact with the United States, Iran, and regional countries, particularly Qatar, Egypt, and Jordan. He emphasized that these nations are also engaged in dialogue with one another to promote regional stability. These diplomatic efforts come at a critical time as US President Donald Trump continues to shape Washington's regional strategy, with Ankara playing a pivotal role as a mediator in Middle Eastern security architectures.

Turkey has historically positioned itself as a key diplomatic bridge between Tehran and Western powers, often facilitating back-channel communications to prevent regional escalation. As a major energy transit hub and a NATO member bordering the Middle East, Azerbaijan also closely monitors these developments, as regional stability is vital for the security of international energy corridors and the continued economic development of the South Caucasus.
