Israel has no intention of discussing a ceasefire with the Lebanese Hezbollah movement, according to official statements from the Israeli diplomatic mission.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Israel's Ambassador to the United States, Yexiel Leiter, clarified the government's stance in a comment to The Times of Israel.

"We do not intend to discuss a ceasefire with the Hezbollah terror organization, which continues its attacks on Israel and remains the primary obstacle to peace between the two countries," Leiter emphasized. The statement follows recent diplomatic activity, including a telephone conversation between Leiter, Lebanon's Ambassador to the US Nada Hamada, and Michelle Issa, the head of the US diplomatic mission in Lebanon. While the parties reportedly discussed the possibility of initiating direct negotiations on April 14, the Israeli side has maintained a firm position against a formal truce with the militant group.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has seen a significant escalation in cross-border tensions over recent months, impacting regional stability. Hezbollah, a Shia Islamist political party and militant group based in Lebanon, has been involved in several major conflicts with Israel since its inception in the 1980s. The international community, including the United States, continues to monitor the situation closely as diplomatic efforts seek to prevent a wider regional conflagration while addressing the security concerns of the involved sovereign states.
