Israel has launched a large-scale military operation targeting Hezbollah positions across Lebanon.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Avichay Adraee, the spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), released this information via his official Telegram account. According to the spokesperson, the strikes were initiated shortly after Hezbollah launched rockets as part of its planned operations.
"Shortly after Hezbollah launched its rockets as planned, we began the first wave of large-scale raids in Beirut and southern Lebanon, targeting the organization's leadership, headquarters, and terrorist infrastructure," Adraee stated. He further noted that efforts are underway to evacuate residents in southern Lebanon to ensure their safety in preparation for additional raids.
Adraee emphasized that the military operations will continue and that forces will be reinforced to meet operational objectives. He added that there are currently no plans regarding the evacuation of residents in Northern Israel. The escalation marks a significant increase in regional tensions, following months of cross-border skirmishes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah militants. International observers have expressed concern over the potential for a wider regional conflict, as diplomatic efforts continue to seek a de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East.
