A resident of the Ismayilli district has been detained by police officers for his involvement in the illegal sale of narcotic substances.
According to the Sheki regional group of the MIA Press Service, 34-year-old local resident Sohbat Ismayilov was apprehended during a successful operation. Upon inspection, officers discovered and seized approximately 2 kilograms of marijuana along with hemp seeds from the suspect. Investigations revealed that Ismayilov had hidden the narcotics in a forested area with the intent to sell them.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident. By court decision, a preventive measure of arrest has been chosen for Ismayilov as the investigation continues.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan continues to conduct systematic operations across the country to combat the illegal drug trade and prevent the distribution of narcotics. These measures are part of a broader national strategy to ensure public safety and health, particularly in regional districts where law enforcement has intensified its surveillance of forest zones and remote areas often used for illicit activities.
