Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaydi has sent a congratulatory letter to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the victory of the Civil Contract Party in the recent parliamentary elections.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, which cited the press service of the Armenian Prime Minister's Office, the report was originally disseminated by the Armenpress news agency.
In his message, Ali Falih al-Zaydi emphasized Iraq's interest in developing broad partnership relations with Armenia based on mutual interests. The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation in economic and development sectors, as well as increasing efforts to jointly address existing challenges between the two nations.
It should be recalled that, according to preliminary results of the parliamentary elections held in Armenia on June 7, three political forces secured seats in the parliament. The Civil Contract Party obtained a parliamentary majority with 727,827 votes (49.825 percent), granting it the right to form the government.
Other significant results included the Strong Armenia bloc, which received 340,088 votes (23.281 percent), and the Armenia bloc, which garnered 145,113 votes (9.934 percent).
Meanwhile, the Prosperous Armenia Party narrowly missed the threshold required to enter parliament, securing 3.996 percent of the vote, falling just 0.004 percent short of the required threshold. Reports indicate that a recount of votes is currently underway at certain polling stations, with the final results of the elections expected to be announced on June 14.
