The Iraqi Ministry of Defense has issued a stern statement regarding recent attacks carried out against military air bases located within the country's territory.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the ministry's official account on the X social media platform released a statement reacting sharply to rocket and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks on the "Shaheed Ala" and "Shaheed Ali Fileyyih" air bases.
The statement emphasized that the military facilities in question are entirely under Iraqi sovereignty and do not host any foreign forces. It was noted that only officers and personnel belonging to the Iraqi Air Force serve at these bases, which house Iraq's military aircraft fleet. The ministry warned that the Iraqi side will not remain a mere spectator if such attacks are repeated.
The Ministry of Defense further highlighted that Iraq will exercise all its rights to protect its territory and military resources. Meanwhile, amid rising regional tensions, reports have emerged that Hezbollah has organized six different attacks from southern Lebanon against Israeli military targets.
These developments come at a time of heightened volatility in the Middle East, where the security of national military infrastructure has become a primary concern for regional governments. Iraq has frequently called for the respect of its territorial integrity and the cessation of unauthorized military activities within its borders to maintain regional stability.
