A new "Punishment Committee" has been established in Iran to identify and penalize individuals inciting war and making such calls within cyberspace. Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Iranian media, that the initiative aims to curb activities deemed harmful to the state's stability.
According to official reports, the committee will operate under the core principle that "Treason against the motherland will no longer go unpunished!" The "Punishment Committee" is described as a public movement designed to combat those targeting the stability and security of Iran through digital platforms and information warfare.
The establishment of this body comes amid increasing regional tensions and a heightened focus on domestic cybersecurity within the Islamic Republic. Historically, Iran has maintained a strict stance on digital communication, often citing national security concerns to justify the monitoring of online activities. This new committee represents a further institutionalization of efforts to regulate the digital landscape and suppress internal dissent or external influence campaigns that the government classifies as treasonous.
