An Iranian citizen convicted of spying for Israel has been executed, according to official reports from Tehran.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Iranian news agency "Mehr" released details regarding the implementation of the death sentence. The individual, identified as Hamid Reza Sabit Ismailpur, was executed by hanging for his alleged cooperation with the Mossad, the intelligence service of Israel, which Iran considers a hostile state.

According to investigation materials, Ismailpur was detained on April 28, 2025. During the judicial proceedings, prosecutors alleged that the executed individual maintained regular contact with Mossad agents and transmitted classified information and sensitive documents to them. The death sentence became final after being upheld by the Supreme Court of the Islamic Republic.

This execution comes amid heightened regional tensions and a long-standing shadow war between Iran and Israel. Iran frequently announces the arrest and execution of individuals accused of working for foreign intelligence agencies, particularly those from Israel and the United States. Under Iranian law, espionage and activities deemed to undermine national security are capital offenses often resulting in the death penalty.
