Iran has accused countries providing support to US and Israeli military activities of violating international law. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei addressed regional tensions and international relations during his weekly press conference.
Baghaei strongly criticized Bulgaria for its alleged support of US and Israeli military activities against Iran. Addressing reports that US KC-135 aerial refueling tankers have utilized Bulgarian territory, he stated that such actions are viewed as complicity in US and Israeli military aggression against Iran.
The Iranian official emphasized that the situation changes significantly when nations allow their territories and military bases to be used by aggressor parties. Baghaei asserted that Iran reserves the right to target the source of any aggressive action to defend its existence and territorial integrity.
Describing US economic sanctions against Iran as "economic terrorism," Baghaei argued that these measures are intended to punish the Iranian people. He further emphasized that maritime blockades constitute acts of aggression and that Washington's pressure on other nations to halt trade with Iran violates international law.
Baghaei also dismissed recent statements by US officials regarding oil volumes passing through the Strait of Hormuz, characterizing these figures as part of a psychological warfare campaign. He announced that Tehran and Oman are set to hold discussions regarding the security of the Strait of Hormuz, underscoring the necessity of ensuring the safety of maritime routes.
Furthermore, Baghaei condemned Israeli strikes on Syria, labeling them as part of a "Greater Israel" project. He stated that Syria maintains the right to self-defense and that such attacks represent a gross violation of international law.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global chokepoint, with a significant portion of the world's petroleum supply passing through the narrow waterway.
