Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has announced that unexploded ordnance remains at the country's nuclear facilities following recent military strikes by the United States. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the minister stated that the presence of these unexploded bombs at targeted nuclear centers poses significant security risks and complicates ongoing monitoring efforts.

Araghchi emphasized the necessity of a special protocol for conducting site visits during his discussions with Rafael Mariano Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

"Inspections cannot be carried out until safety and security issues are fully resolved and a corresponding agreement is reached between the parties," the minister noted, adding that technical contacts with the agency are currently ongoing to address these concerns.

The military escalation reached a peak on June 22, 2025, when US military forces conducted airstrikes against three strategic nuclear facilities located in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan. These strikes followed a series of operations by the Israeli military targeting Iranian military leadership and nuclear scientists. Under the administration of US President Donald Trump, who took office in January 2025, the United States has intensified its stance on regional security and nuclear non-proliferation, leading to the current state of heightened tension in the Middle East.
