Iran has detained two vessels in the Strait of Hormuz

Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Tasnim news agency, reports that the Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has detained two ships for attempting an unauthorized passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian military officials emphasized that any disruption to order and security in the Strait of Hormuz represents a "red line" for Tehran. According to the report, the IRGC Navy seized the vessels "MSC-FRANCESCA" and "EPAMINODES" for allegedly endangering maritime safety and escorted them to the Iranian coast. The Iranian military maintains a strict stance, stating that security breaches in the strategic waterway are unacceptable.

This incident follows a recent report from the US Central Command (CENTCOM) regarding the seizure of an Iranian merchant vessel in the Gulf of Oman. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran characterized the US action as an attack and a violation of ceasefire protocols. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most critical maritime chokepoints, through which approximately one-fifth of the world's oil consumption passes daily. Tensions in the region have remained a focal point for international maritime security, particularly as US President Donald Trump continues to prioritize the protection of global trade routes and regional stability.
