Nine individuals have been detained in Iran on charges of espionage following a targeted operation.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) released a statement regarding the arrests. According to the official report, the suspects were apprehended in the Kerman province, located in the southeastern part of the country.
Details regarding the specific nature of the operation or the identities of the detained individuals have not yet been disclosed by Iranian authorities. The IRGC noted that investigative measures are currently ongoing and the scope of the inquiry is being expanded to uncover further links to foreign intelligence services.
Kerman province has frequently been a focal point for security operations due to its strategic location and previous incidents involving domestic unrest and cross-border tensions. Espionage cases in Iran often involve accusations of collaboration with foreign entities, particularly Western intelligence agencies or regional rivals. Under Iranian law, such charges can carry severe penalties, including long-term imprisonment or the death penalty, depending on the nature of the alleged intelligence shared.
