The foreign ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia have held discussions regarding the latest regional developments following the ceasefire in the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing the Tasnim News Agency, that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud exchanged views on regional events during a telephone conversation.

During the call, Abbas Araghchi commented on the current situation, emphasizing that Iran has maintained a responsible position amid ongoing tensions. He expressed concern over the actions of the United States, noting that Washington had engaged in military aggression against Iran twice during the nuclear negotiation process. The Iranian minister expressed regret that such steps were taken even before the initiation of the formal diplomatic process.

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud noted that his country supports the ceasefire agreement and continues its efforts toward restoring stability and security in the region. He expressed hope that the current ceasefire would create a foundation for a complete end to the conflict and the establishment of lasting peace in the Middle East.

The diplomatic engagement comes at a critical time for regional geopolitics. Relations between Tehran and Riyadh have seen a gradual normalization since the 2023 China-brokered deal, which restored diplomatic ties after years of rivalry. This dialogue is viewed as a significant step in de-escalating broader Middle Eastern tensions, particularly as regional powers seek to balance security interests with international diplomatic efforts regarding Iran's nuclear program and the involvement of US President Donald Trump's administration in regional security frameworks.
