Azerbaijan is currently experiencing unstable and intense weather conditions, with heavy precipitation recorded across the country. According to the latest data from the National Hydrometeorological Service as of 22:00 on March 27, snow is falling in mountainous regions, while heavy rain continues to impact the capital, Baku, and the Absheron Peninsula.
The service reported that the amount of rainfall has reached 58 millimeters, which constitutes 247 percent of the established monthly norm. Due to the volume of water, the risk of flooding remains high in several areas of the peninsula. The weather forecast for the coming days indicates the following:
- March 28: Intense precipitation is expected to continue throughout the day, strengthening in certain locations.
- Flooding risk: There is a high probability of localized flooding in various parts of the peninsula due to the sustained heavy rainfall.
- March 29: Precipitation is projected to gradually cease starting from the afternoon hours.
In Azerbaijan, such intense rainfall during the spring months can significantly impact urban infrastructure and agricultural activities. The National Hydrometeorological Service, an agency under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, regularly monitors atmospheric processes to provide early warnings for extreme weather events. Authorities advise citizens to remain cautious, particularly in low-lying areas prone to water accumulation, as emergency services continue to monitor the situation across the Republic.
