President Ilham Aliyev met with Kaja Kallas, the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, in Munich on February 14.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that during the conversation, the sides recalled with satisfaction Kaja Kallas's visit to Azerbaijan last year and her previous meeting with the head of state. It was noted that the European Union remains highly interested in further developing relations with Azerbaijan across various strategic sectors.

The meeting emphasized the successful cooperation between the European Union and Azerbaijan in the energy sector, highlighting Azerbaijan's significant contributions to ensuring Europe's energy security. Furthermore, both parties underscored the extensive opportunities for expanding partnership in the transport sector, alongside existing energy initiatives. The exchange of views also covered the prospects for Azerbaijan-EU cooperation, the establishment of sustainable peace and stability in the South Caucasus region, and other matters of mutual interest.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference (MSC), a premier global forum for debating international security policy. Since its inception in 1963, the MSC has served as a vital platform for high-level dialogue between world leaders, diplomats, and security experts. Azerbaijan's participation in such forums underscores its active role in regional diplomacy and its commitment to strengthening ties with European institutions, particularly in the context of the Middle Corridor and energy diversification projects.
