Relations with the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) are a top priority in Azerbaijan's foreign policy.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks while receiving the participants of the meeting of heads of government and vice presidents of the OTS member states in Baku.
"In general, Azerbaijan has made and will continue to make great contributions to the development of the Organization of Turkic States. This is one of the priority issues in our foreign policy. We have repeatedly stated from various platforms that the Turkic world is our family; we have no other family. It is, of course, very important to make joint efforts to lead this family into the future," the head of state emphasized.
President Ilham Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan's historical, cultural, and ethnic roots with these countries form a solid foundation for cooperation. "Today, as independent states, we also act from a unified position in all international organizations and support each other. We stand by each other in both good and difficult times," he added.
The Organization of Turkic States, formerly known as the Turkic Council, was established in 2009 as an intergovernmental organization with the primary objective of promoting comprehensive cooperation among Turkic-speaking states. Azerbaijan has consistently played a leading role in the organization, hosting several summits and advocating for deeper economic, transport, and security integration among member nations, including Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.
