Italy is a close friend and a reliable strategic partner of Azerbaijan.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this was stated in a letter sent by President Ilham Aliyev to Italian President Sergio Mattarella on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Italian Republic.
"I am pleased that the relations between our countries are developing in a spirit of mutual respect and trust, and our multidimensional strategic partnership is expanding day by day and being enriched with new content. We attach special importance to the development of our relations with Italy in all areas," the congratulatory message states.
The head of state noted that the full realization of the existing potential of economic ties between the two countries, as well as the diversification of cooperation in investment, defense, humanitarian, and other new directions, are among the main tasks ahead.
Azerbaijan and Italy maintain a robust bilateral relationship, anchored significantly by energy cooperation and trade. Italy is one of Azerbaijan's primary economic partners in Europe, with extensive collaboration spanning the energy sector, infrastructure projects, and cultural exchange, reflecting the strong political dialogue between Baku and Rome.
