Chairman of the Presidential Council of the State of Libya, Mohamed Yunus al-Menfi, made a phone call to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on March 7.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Presidential Press Service released information regarding the call. During the conversation, Mohamed Yunus al-Menfi condemned the air strikes carried out by Iran against Azerbaijan, expressing his support for the country's security and sovereignty.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the phone call and the solidarity shown by the Libyan leader. The heads of state also engaged in an exchange of views regarding the prospects for bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Libya in various sectors of mutual interest.
Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Libya have historically been characterized by cooperation within international organizations, including the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). This high-level contact underscores the strengthening of ties between Baku and Tripoli as both nations seek to enhance political dialogue and explore new avenues for economic and energy partnership in the Mediterranean and Caspian regions.
