Azerbaijan will announce the commencement of natural gas production from a new field early next month, President Ilham Aliyev stated.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks during an interview with Euronews television on May 18.
"Fortunately, we have completed our homework regarding pipeline infrastructure and production on time. Currently, production levels are increasing. Soon, likely at the beginning of next month, we will provide information on the start of gas production from a new field. There is cooperation based on mutual benefit here. We need a premium market, which is Europe. Europe, in turn, needs an alternative supply source like Azerbaijan. Thus, we have combined our efforts and established very efficient cooperation with the European Commission," the Azerbaijani leader emphasized.
Azerbaijan has significantly expanded its role as a key energy supplier to Europe following the completion of the Southern Gas Corridor. This strategic infrastructure project, which includes the Shah Deniz 2 field and a network of pipelines stretching to Italy, has positioned the country as a vital partner in ensuring European energy security. The upcoming production from new offshore fields in the Caspian Sea is expected to further bolster export volumes and support the long-term energy transition goals of the European Union.
