The Republic of Azerbaijan continues to pursue a decisive policy aimed at establishing and maintaining an environment of lasting peace and stability in the region.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks in his address to participants of the international conference titled "Regional Contribution to Global Security: Peacebuilding in the South Caucasus," held in Shusha.
The President noted that the signing of a Joint Declaration and the initialing of a peace agreement between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia last year in Washington, witnessed by US President Donald Trump, has fundamentally transformed the situation in the South Caucasus.
"In this context, the Zangazur corridor, which is currently being realized, will not only connect the main part of Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan region but will also become one of the key segments of the Middle Corridor," President Ilham Aliyev stated.
The Middle Corridor, officially known as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), is a strategic logistics network connecting China and Europe via Central Asia and the Caucasus. By integrating the Zangazur corridor into this network, Azerbaijan aims to significantly enhance regional connectivity, reduce transit times, and boost cargo throughput, reinforcing its role as a vital transit hub between East and West.
