Azerbaijan is taking significant steps toward the responsible and balanced implementation of innovative technologies and artificial intelligence (AI), according to President Ilham Aliyev.
As reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks in his address to the participants of the International Baku Summit of Ombudsmen, held in the capital under the theme "Human Rights in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities, Risks, and Responsibilities."
The head of state emphasized that Azerbaijan considers the alignment of technological progress with human-centric values a fundamental principle of its state policy:
"Significant steps are being taken in Azerbaijan toward the responsible and balanced application of innovative technologies and artificial intelligence. The legal acts, concepts, and action plans we have adopted in this field promote the application of these technologies within a framework of safety, transparency, and human rights-based principles. They serve to support inclusive development and accelerate digital transformation," the President stated.
President Ilham Aliyev further noted that the initiatives currently being implemented under Azerbaijan's new digital architecture—including the expansion of AI in public administration, the strengthening of information security, and the development of national AI infrastructure—demonstrate the country's strategic approach to addressing modern global challenges.
The International Baku Summit of Ombudsmen serves as a critical platform for global human rights institutions to discuss the ethical implications of emerging technologies. By hosting such events, Azerbaijan continues to position itself as a regional hub for dialogue on digital governance and the protection of human rights in an increasingly automated world.
