President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Ying Yong, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate of the People's Republic of China, on September 2.
As reported by Operative Information Center-OMM, the Chinese delegation included the Prosecutor of Shanghai, Chen Yong, the Prosecutor of Jiangsu Province, Zhao Tyezhi, and the Prosecutor of Gansu Province, Shen Jian.
During the meeting, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the strategic partnership between the two nations, noting that since April, Azerbaijan and China have been operating within the framework of a comprehensive strategic partnership. The President highlighted the active participation of Chinese companies in Azerbaijan's economy, both as investors and contractors, and expressed satisfaction with the growing bilateral ties.
"We see great potential for cooperation and a strong partnership in the field for which you are directly responsible," President Aliyev stated, underscoring the importance of mutual support for sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also noted the significance of the "Belt and Road" initiative, which Azerbaijan fully supports through practical steps to enhance connectivity between Central Asia, Azerbaijan, and China.
In response, Prosecutor General Ying Yong conveyed the sincere greetings of Chinese President Xi Jinping to President Aliyev. He highlighted that his visit serves to implement the consensus reached between the two leaders regarding the promotion of a comprehensive strategic partnership and the strengthening of cooperation between the prosecution and judicial authorities of both countries.
Ying Yong noted that he had held productive meetings with the Speaker of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) Sahiba Gafarova, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev, and Chairman of the Supreme Court Inam Karimov. He reaffirmed that China and Azerbaijan remain committed to the principles of mutual respect, equality, and cooperation, building upon the solid foundation of friendship established by the National Leader of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the greetings from President Xi Jinping and requested that his own greetings be conveyed to the Chinese leader.
