President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to the President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Mohammed Shahabuddin, on the occasion of the country's national holiday – Independence Day.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the message conveys the warmest congratulations on behalf of the President and the people of Azerbaijan to the people of Bangladesh.
"The relations of friendship between Azerbaijan and Bangladesh have pleasant traditions. I believe that we will continue to make joint efforts towards the development of our bilateral relations and the expansion of our cooperation in accordance with the interests of our peoples," the letter states. President Ilham Aliyev also wished President Shahabuddin robust health, success in his endeavors, and peace and prosperity to the friendly people of Bangladesh.
Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Bangladesh were established in 1992, shortly after Azerbaijan regained its independence. Since then, the two nations have maintained a steady partnership, particularly within international organizations such as the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Both countries have frequently expressed interest in deepening economic ties, specifically in the fields of energy, agriculture, and education, as they continue to support each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity on the global stage.
