Azerbaijan continues to demonstrate stable and successful development, President Ilham Aliyev stated during his address at the opening ceremony of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group's 2026 Annual Meetings held in Baku.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state highlighted that this marks the second time Azerbaijan has hosted the IsDB Group's Annual Meetings, underscoring the nation's growing role in international financial cooperation.
"We first hosted the meeting in 2010. That annual session provided a strong impetus to our partnership. At the same time, it was support for the reforms Azerbaijan was carrying out regarding the diversification of its economy and the reduction of dependence on the energy sector," President Ilham Aliyev noted. "Since that time, many changes have taken place in Azerbaijan and the surrounding region. However, one thing remains unchanged: Azerbaijan has stable, successful development."
The Islamic Development Bank Group, headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is a multilateral development finance institution that has been a key partner in Azerbaijan's infrastructure and social projects for decades. Hosting such high-level international forums reflects Azerbaijan's strategic position as a bridge between East and West and its commitment to fostering economic integration among member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
