President Ilham Aliyev has stated that Azerbaijan is ready to share its extensive experience and innovative approaches in the field of urban planning with the global community. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state made these remarks during a meeting with Anaclaudia Rossbach, the Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), in Baku.
President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that the large-scale restoration and construction work currently being carried out in the liberated territories in the post-conflict period serves as an exemplary model for other nations. He noted that the integration of modern urban solutions and sustainable development practices in these regions demonstrates Azerbaijan's commitment to building resilient communities and infrastructure, expressing the country's willingness to provide technical insights to international partners.
The cooperation between Azerbaijan and UN-Habitat has seen significant growth in recent years, particularly as the country prepares to host the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku in 2026. The ongoing reconstruction efforts in the Garabagh and East Zangazur regions utilize "smart city" and "smart village" concepts, prioritizing green energy and digital transformation to ensure the sustainable return of former internally displaced persons to their native lands. This experience is increasingly viewed as a global benchmark for post-conflict urban recovery.
