The construction of the Horadiz–Aghband railway line, a crucial segment of the Zangazur corridor, is scheduled for completion in 2028. This announcement was made by Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev during the 24th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Russia Intergovernmental State Commission.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Deputy Prime Minister provided updates on the current status of the infrastructure project. According to Mustafayev, the total length of the railway line is approximately 110 kilometers, extending to about 140 kilometers when including side tracks. "Currently, the project implementation level stands at approximately 75%. The primary construction works have already been executed," he stated.
The Horadiz-Aghband railway is a strategic infrastructure project aimed at restoring regional transport links in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan. As a key component of the Zangazur corridor, the line is expected to facilitate international transit and enhance connectivity between mainland Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The project involves the construction of numerous bridges, tunnels, and stations, serving as a vital link in the East-West and North-South transport routes passing through the South Caucasus.
