An AN-32 military transport aircraft belonging to the Indian Air Force has crashed in the Jorhat region of Assam state, India.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the incident occurred near an airbase as the aircraft was preparing for landing.

Preliminary reports indicate that the aircraft struck the ground due to reasons that have yet to be determined. The Indian Air Force issued an official statement confirming that all five military personnel on board lost their lives in the crash. A special investigation commission has been established to determine the precise causes of the accident.

The Antonov An-32 is a twin-engined turboprop military transport aircraft designed and built in the Soviet Union. It has served as a workhorse for the Indian Air Force for decades, primarily used for logistical support and transport operations in challenging terrains, including the mountainous regions of Northeast India.
