Azerbaijani non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are set to initiate cooperation on joint projects with like-minded civil society groups from Global South countries. Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, announced this initiative during his speech at the 1st General Assembly of the Global South NGO Platform (GSNP).

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Hajiyev emphasized that Azerbaijan is prepared to implement cost-sharing and joint financing models for these collaborative efforts. "At the same time, we are ready to learn from your experience and share our own experience," the official stated, highlighting the importance of mutual exchange between civil society institutions in developing nations.

The Global South NGO Platform serves as a critical forum for fostering South-South cooperation, aiming to amplify the voices of developing nations in international discourse. Azerbaijan's active involvement in this platform aligns with its broader foreign policy objectives of strengthening ties with non-aligned and developing countries. This initiative follows Azerbaijan's successful chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), during which the country consistently advocated for the interests of the Global South and promoted multilateralism as a means to address global challenges.
