The deadline for submitting documents for the Hajj pilgrimage has been extended in Azerbaijan.
Vusal Jahangiri, Head of the Foreign Relations Department of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO) and director of the Hajj electronic system, informed Operative Information Center-OMM about the extension. He noted that the decision aims to provide additional time for citizens wishing to fulfill their religious obligations.
“The acceptance of documents will continue through the first ten days of April. Currently, 92 percent of the quota is filled, while 8 percent remains available,” Jahangiri stated. He encouraged interested individuals to utilize this final window to complete their registration for the upcoming pilgrimage season.
The Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam, requiring every able-bodied Muslim who can afford it to undertake the journey to Mecca at least once in their lifetime. In Azerbaijan, the organization of the pilgrimage is managed by the Caucasus Muslims Office, which coordinates with Saudi Arabian authorities to manage quotas, transportation, and accommodation for Azerbaijani pilgrims. The annual quota is determined based on bilateral agreements, ensuring that safety and logistical standards are met for all participants from the Republic of Azerbaijan.
