Humanitarian aid sent from Russia to the Islamic Republic of Iran has successfully crossed the Astara state border checkpoint in Azerbaijan. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing AZERTAC, the shipment consisting of essential medical supplies reached the border facility following transit through Azerbaijani territory.

After completing the necessary customs and regulatory procedures, the seamless passage of the humanitarian cargo into Iran was ensured via the Azerbaijani border. Earlier today, an Il-76 transport aircraft belonging to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation landed at Lankaran International Airport carrying the aid. The supplies were subsequently loaded onto trucks belonging to the Iranian Red Crescent Society for ground transport toward the Astara destination.

The transit of international humanitarian cargo through Azerbaijan highlights the country's strategic role as a regional logistics hub and its commitment to facilitating international cooperation. The Astara border crossing serves as a vital link in the North-South International Transport Corridor, connecting Russia and Iran through Azerbaijan's well-developed infrastructure in the southern region, including the facilities in Lankaran and the modern customs checkpoints in Astara.
